The fine print

Terms and conditions

How we quote, what we will and will not do without asking you first, how payment works, and what our warranty covers.

Last updated: 9 August 2026

Auto Mechanical Solutions Pty. Ltd., ABN 16 613 256 081, trading as Auto Mechanical Solutions.

These terms cover the servicing and repair work we carry out at 3/8 Newcastle Road, Bayswater VIC 3153. By leaving a vehicle with us, you agree to them.

1. Quotes

We issue quotes, not estimates. A quote is our price for the work described on it.

A quote can change once we can see the vehicle properly, or if the job turns out to need something different. Where that happens we contact you before the cost moves.

Quotes are valid for 14 days.

2. Authorising the work

We start the job you have booked and authorised. Authorisation can be given in person, by phone, by SMS or by email.

Carrying out that job includes replacing minor consumable items we find faulty in the course of the work — bulbs, fuses, clips, clamps, valve caps, washers and the like. Items of that kind are replaced as part of the job and itemised on your invoice.

Anything that is a repair rather than a minor consumable is covered by section 3.

By authorising work you confirm that you own the vehicle, or are authorised by the owner to have the work done and to pay for it.

3. Extra work found during a job

Vehicles often need more than the job they came in for. If we find something beyond the work you authorised and beyond the minor items in section 2, we stop, call you, and explain what we have found, what it will cost, and whether it needs doing now or can wait.

We do not carry out unauthorised repairs and add them to your bill.

4. Parts

We use genuine, OEM or quality aftermarket parts depending on the vehicle, the job and what you have asked for.

Parts availability is outside our control. If a part is delayed, we let you know as soon as we do.

Replaced parts are disposed of unless you ask for them back at the time you authorise the work.

Parts you supply yourself

We will fit parts you supply. They carry no warranty from us. If a part you supplied turns out to be faulty or incorrect, labour is still charged, and any diagnostic time spent on it is chargeable.

5. Timeframes

Any completion time we give you is an estimate made in good faith. Parts delays, faults found during the job and workload can move it. We keep you informed.

6. Payment

Payment is due in full when you collect the vehicle, unless we have agreed something else in writing beforehand.

We accept cash, EFTPOS, card and bank transfer. Normal surcharge rates apply to card payments.

We take a deposit on large jobs and on jobs needing special-order parts.

We may keep possession of the vehicle until the account is paid in full. This is a repairer’s lien, and it is a right given to repairers by law.

7. Collecting your vehicle

We let you know when the vehicle is ready. Please collect it during opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Vehicles should be collected the next business day after we tell you the work is finished. If you let us know you need an extra day, that is fine. Beyond that, storage fees may apply.

Vehicles left uncollected for an extended period may be dealt with under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic), which sets out what a repairer may do with an uncollected vehicle. We would always rather call you.

8. Our warranty

We warrant our workmanship for 12 months or 10,000km, whichever comes first. If something we did is not right, bring the vehicle back and we will put it right.

Parts we supply carry the manufacturer or supplier warranty. This varies by brand.

Our warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, damage from an accident or misuse, faults caused by another party working on the vehicle after us, parts you supplied yourself, or a fault you were told about and chose not to have repaired.

9. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have services remedied if they are not carried out with due care and skill, where the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Our warranty above is in addition to these rights, not instead of them.

10. Logbook servicing and your new-car warranty

You are entitled to have your car serviced by an independent workshop without losing your manufacturer’s warranty, provided the service is carried out to the manufacturer’s schedule using parts and fluids that meet their specification. We service to schedule and stamp your logbook.

11. Personal belongings

Please take valuables and personal items with you. We are not responsible for items left in a vehicle.

12. Liability

Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and to section 9 above, our liability for any claim connected with work we carry out is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of use of the vehicle, loss of income, or towing and hire car costs, except where the law says otherwise.

13. Privacy

We handle your information in line with our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you authorise work is the version that applies to that job.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
